Buying a Steinway Piano

What is a Steinway piano? A Steinway piano is a German-American company that specializes in building pianos. The company was founded in 1853 in Manhattan by Heinrich Engelhard Steinweg. A German piano maker, Steinweg first established the company in Hamburg, Germany, and then moved to New York City. Today, Steinway & Sons is a prestigious name in the piano world. There are several models available.

Model A

When you choose a Steinway Model A Mason Hamlin Piano, you’ll be delighted by its sparkling treble and resonant bass. Its long strings also make it easy to learn how to play piano, making this classic instrument a favorite among music lovers. However, before you purchase one, be sure to learn as much as you can about the piano’s construction and specifications. Below are some helpful tips to choose the right Steinway Model A piano for your needs.

The Model A is 6’2″ long, which is a popular size for the home. The sound is concert-quality without being overpowering. The Model A’s action is also responsive, which allows for easy playing. Unlike other pianos with a high price tag, a Model A allows you to hear the sound without overpowering it. This makes it an ideal choice for beginners, but if you’re looking for a grand piano that’s more suitable for a larger room, consider the Steinway Model B, which is larger and costs more.

Model B

The most popular model of Steinway piano is the “model B,” also called the classic grand. This type of piano is known as the “perfect piano” because it is versatile enough to fit in any home, teaching studio, or mid-sized venue. But the cost of buying a brand-new Steinway is prohibitive for most people, so many of them are searching for used Steinway model B pianos for sale. To find one, people can scour Craigslist and other websites for inventory of Steinways for sale.

The Model B is the flagship Steinway Mason Hamlin. The company discontinued the Model A-III, which was slightly smaller and more affordable than the Model B. While Steinway later re-introduced the smaller Model A-II, the original model remains the standard in its class. With a rich history of innovation and refinement, the Steinway Model B continues to stand out among pianos of similar size. However, it is still possible to find an affordable and high-quality Steinway Model B.

Model O

A Steinway Model O piano is a superb choice for an affordable home grand piano. This restored instrument was manufactured in Hamburg, Germany, and features an eighty-eight-note keyboard with a two-pedal lyre. This fine instrument is backed by the Besbrode Pianos Warranty, as well as free first tuning and delivery to a ground floor residence in mainland UK. Here are some things to look for when purchasing a Steinway grand:

The Model O is smaller than the Model B and S, but retains the classic Steinway sound and the uncompromising design of its scale. This model is especially suitable for homes and smaller rooms, and is five feet, ten inches long. Compared to its cousin, the Model D, the Model O has a shorter height. But the benefits of a Model O are obvious. This piano has the legendary Steinway sound and a beautifully engineered scale. It is able to give the perfect touch to the player’s fingers and the audience.

Model S

The Steinway Model S is the smallest grand piano in the company’s line. Its 4’10” width and spruce braces make it the most versatile of the five Steinways. In fact, many serious amateur and professional pianists prefer it over the larger versions. These instruments are available in a variety of sizes and are ideal for the home, studio, or small recital hall. Here are some of the main differences between these models.

One of the most important changes in the model was the use of a Diaphragmatic Soundboard. This allows the string to vibrate more freely and project sound for longer. This is the primary difference between the Model S and the Model M. While both models share similar technology, the Diaphragmatic Soundboard is considered the best soundboard ever built. It helps avoid bass register problems because of its tapered shape. Another notable feature of the Model S is its unique tapered design.

Model M

The Model M was introduced in 1911. For many years, it was the smallest Steinway grand piano, being under five feet seven inches. This piano not only captures the essence of the Steinway tone, but it is also a mid-century modern masterpiece. The piano’s design is inspired by the first Steinweg piano, made in 1836. Featuring a folding lid and high cheeks, this model has an attractive, compact profile from the front.

The rim is made from a single piece of hard rock maple that is two-and-a-half inches thick. The rim is a structurally sound foundation, and the Model M is no different. The rim features a continuous bent rim, making it stronger than a traditional piano. The two-inch-thick rim provides stability and helps the Steinway Model M last for decades. While choosing the rim of your piano is an important consideration, the sound quality is another factor to consider.

Fibonacci

The fibonacci piano was designed by Frank Pollaro and is the 600,000th Steinway & Sons piano. It was made from six individual logs of Macassar ebony and features bronze and synthetic ivory inlays. It took four years and 6,000 hours of craftsmanship to make. The Fibonacci’s stunning spiral lid is one of the most famous features of this beautiful piano.

The Fibonacci piano was created with the concept in mind. Its spiral-shaped soundboard features a macassar ebony fibonacci inlay. The spiral represents geometric harmony in nature and is a trademark of the piano. A Fibonacci spiral represents the perfect proportions of nature and has a symbolic meaning. The Steinway piano Fibonacci took four years to complete.
