Weddings across the globe take place in different ways, each of which is unique and highlights the varied culture of the people. A typical Christian wedding takes places in a church before a priest where the couple exchange vows. During the ceremony they read and discuss a passage from their Scripture and conduct the Eucharistic rite. There are many rituals that are traditionally followed in a Christian wedding, some of which have been tailored in the recent times to align with the sentiments of the couple getting married.
Processional
This is the part where the involved parties walk up to the alter at the beginning of the ceremony. This procession is typically lead by the minister or priest. After the priest the groom walks up to the alter and may choose to be escorted there by one or both his parents. After the groom, the groomsmen followed by the parents and grandparents of the couple make their way into the church and take their positions. After them, the bridesmaids, the ring bearer and the flower girl walk to the altar followed by the bride escorted by her father or both her parents.
Presentation
Also known as the ‘giving away of the bride’, the presentation marks the moment when the bride and her father reach up to the altar and the father hands over the bride to the groom which represents his child becoming one with someone else.
Homily
Homily is also referred to as the sermon where the minister or the priest offers insights into the relationship of the couple and throws light on their path to marriage along with a Bible scripture that is applicable to their story.
Prayer and Vows
This ritual includes the priest and everyone present for the ceremony blessing the couple and praying for the happiness and well-being. This is followed by exchanging the vows where the couple repeats the lines after the priest and say “I do”. The couple may choose to exchange their personalized vows after this ritual.
Exchange of Rings
The couple exchange their wedding rings hatton garden and put it on their partner’s ring finger of the left hand. The ring is a symbol of unending love and a jewellery item that signifies your commitment.
Pronouncement
This part is the conclusion of the wedding ceremony where the priest declares that the couple is officially married and directs them to kiss. In some cases, the priest may direct the couple to kiss first and then pronounce them man and wife.
Recessional
During the recessional the couple walks back down the aisle towards the exit followed the by ring bearer, flower girls, bridesmaid and the groomsmen along with the entire bridal party and the families of the couple. The last to exit the house of worship is the priest which signifies the end of the ceremony. Now the entire team can proceed for the reception where they can eat and dance their heart out and the bride can show off her diamond ring and diamond tennis bracelet hatton garden.
